May 2011 Meeting

Being reminded to trust in the Lord in all situations was the focus of our May meeting.  We heard a story about a man who was being treated to dinner by his employer. During the walk down the sidewalk, the employer stopped and picked up a penny.  When the man asked his boss why he bothered to pick up a penny when it was evident that he did not need the money, the boss replied by asking the man what was written on the coin.  Reading from the penny, the man answered, "In God we trust."  The employer said that whenever he saw a penny on the ground, he would always stop to pick it up and then would ask himself, "What do I need to remember to trust God with today?"  We were then given a bookmark that had Proverbs 3:5-6 printed on it and with a penny laminated in the center.  We were encouraged to daily ask God, "What is it that I need to trust you with today."  During our journey with cancer, we are constantly being confronted with tests, procedures, and reports.  The only way we can face each new day with its challenges is by putting our faith in someone more powerful than our circumstances.  By trusting in God, we have the assurance that He will continue to guide us through our life's journey.  Join us for our next Oasis of Hope Cancer Support Group meeting June 21, 2011, at 7:00 P.M. for more words of encouragement and fellowship.
