Sharing updates with each other about the past month is like talking with family when we join together at our meetings. We listen, laugh, cry, and pray.  There is a sweet spirit in the place.
At this month's meeting, we were encouraged to keep walking the walk of faith.  Sometimes God heals instantly and sometimes God waits.  In the waiting, we need to keep trusting Him. God moves in our lives in different ways.  Sometimes Jesus healed by touch, sometimes by a word, and sometimes by sending a message.
We were reminded of the blind man who had been born blind.  Jesus chose to make clay from his spittle and anoint the man's eyes (John 9:6-7).  He then told the man to go wash.  The man was faced with a choice. Either he could trust and obey, or he could stubbornly refuse.  Did the man doubt?  Did the man stumble on the way to the pool?  Did others make fun of him on the way?   We don't know the answers to these questions, but we do know that the man obeyed and in turn was healed.  The man did not have a choice of being born blind but did have a choice whether or not to obey Jesus.
We do not choose to be diagnosed with cancer, but we do have a choice as we walk the cancer journey whether or not to obey Jesus.  God did not promise that we would not have trials in this life, but He did promise that He would be with us through the trials.  He said, "I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee,"  (Hebrews 13:5).  God will comfort you.  He said He would "console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness," (Isaiah 61:3).  Keep you hope in the Lord.  He cares for you.
We encourage you to join us as we continue to meet together for more fellowship and words of encouragement at our next Oasis of Hope Christian Cancer Support Group on Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at 7:00 P.M.  Until then, may you experience His presence as you trust in Him.
