“And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the Lord, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel” (Isaiah 45:3).

Cancer is like a darkness or a cloud that hangs over us, but be encouraged, God will give treasures in our darkness.  When we are on the cancer journey, we need to find others who are going through similar things, so we can support one another.  Fear manifests itself in darkness.  Darkness reveals fear.  Even though we may face the fear of not knowing what is ahead, there are treasures in the darkness.

4 Treasures in the Darkness:

11.    The presence of God.  There is joy in the presence of the Lord.  It is this joy that strengthens our inner being so that we have the strength to continue on our journey.

22.    New revelation of God’s word.  Our new problems help us to understand new promises in His word.  If we did not have a problem, we won't know how He could solve them.

33.    The secret of deliverance and victories.  Just because you do not see evidence in the midst of the dark season, farther down the road you can look back and see God’s hand in that season.

44.    Souls of lost men and women.  Sometimes God allows us to walk through darkness so that we will be able to minister to others who are going through a dark season.  God is working in our seasons of darkness.  If we know God is working through this time in our lives, then we know we can make it through this season.

Don’t try to journey through life without the word of God.  Look for God every day.  We need to keep our hearts and minds pure to be ready for Jesus when he returns.  We need to remember to take communion as a way of remembering the price that Jesus paid for our sins.

Next month the Oasis of Hope Christian Cancer Support Group Meeting will meet on the third Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at 7:00 P.M. at Bethany Assembly of God.  We welcome you to join us for words of encouragement and prayer if you or your loved one is facing the cancer journey.
