Remember when you first heard the news you had cancer?  How did you feel?  When we hope in the Lord, we receive strength to face whatever is ahead.  “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31).

It is with the Lord’s strength that we make it through our cancer journey.  Even when we feel in distress, we need to trust God and call out to Him.  “In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears,”  (Psalm 18:6).

Sometimes we have fear when we think about our cancer diagnosis, but the Lord has encouraging words for His children.  He says, “Fear thou not; for I am with thee:  be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness” (Isaiah 41:10).

Even when things do not go the way we had planned, God is with us.  He will see us through this journey.  We need to keep our hope in the Lord.  In His time and in His way, He will somehow make all things work out for our good, as we trust in Him.

Next month the Oasis of Hope Christian Cancer Support Group Meeting will meet on the fourth Tuesday, August 16, 2016, at 7:00 P.M. at Bethany Assembly of God.  We welcome you to join us for words of encouragement and prayer if you or your loved one is facing the cancer journey.
