2016 February Meeting from Oasis of Hope CCSG

“In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears”  (Psalm 18:6).  During seasons of distress, call out to the Lord.  He hears the cry of His children.

“Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, according as we hope in thee” (Psalm 33:22).  As you cry out to God, ask Him for His mercy.  His mercies keep us from being consumed as we keep our hope in Him.

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagle: they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31).   As we wait upon the Lord by keeping our hope and trust in Him, He will lift us up with eagle’s wings.  He shall provide the strength we need to continue the journey no matter the distance.

6 Lessons Learned from the Cancer Journey:

11.    There is no shame in having cancer.  No matter how you feel, never isolate yourself from people who care.

22.    Those who love you will be there for you.  Surround yourself with people who support you.

33.    Have a positive mindset.  The enemy puts negative thoughts into our minds.  We have to counter those thoughts with the word of the Lord.

44.    Keep living life as normal as possible.  This is a new normal.  Keep doing the things you have been doing as you are able.

55.    Count your blessings.  Have faith in God.  Keep a journal that records your blessings.  This helps in keeping a positive focus.

66.    Get outside as much as possible.  Getting in the sun, going to the beach, breathing fresh air helps to ward off depression.

God is faithful.  Remember, God has the final say.  Keep trusting in Him.  He will see you through.

Next month the Oasis of Hope Christian Cancer Support Group Meeting will meet on the fourth Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at 7:00 P.M. at Bethany Assembly of God.  We welcome you to join us for words of encouragement and prayer if you or your loved one is facing the cancer journey.
