2015 September Message from Oasis of Hope CCSG

Especially on a journey with cancer, we cannot depend on our circumstances to determine our feelings. We can’t let our feelings guide us in this life.  We need to stay focused on Jesus and praise him.  We need to praise him for who he is and what we see in him.  Psalm 118:24 “This is the day that the Lord hath made. Let us rejoice and be glad in him.”  We need to rejoice in our spirits.

Some have said that when they received cancer, it was a gift.  How can that be?  “Cancer is a gift” is a matter of perspective.  Since a person does not know how long life will last, each day is a gift from God.  Receiving a diagnosis of cancer makes a person more aware of how precious and fleeting life is. The gift of perspective causes us to rejoice for each day, for each breath, and for whose we are.  We need a daily dose of reality to be grateful.

Even though we who have been diagnosed with cancer want to be healed, we need to keep the gift of perspective.  Every day is a gift of life.  There may not be a next year.  Live now.  In the waiting, live for the presence of God today.  Don’t worry about the future.  God knows what is ahead and will be with those who trust in Him.  Remember, your life is a gift from God.  Take the time to enjoy what God has given you.

We are here to support you with encouragement and prayers.  If you are traveling life’s journey burdened with cancer, come join us at our next Oasis of Hope Christian Cancer Support Group meeting.  You’ll be glad that you did.  We meet the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 P.M. We hope to see you there.
