With the New Year bringing many questions, we were encouraged to keep our trust in God and not to fear what this year may bring.  “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. / Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried in to the midst of the sea: / Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof” (Psalm 46: 1-3).  “The Lord of hosts is with us: the God of Jacob is our refuge” (Psalm 46:7). Do not allow the fear of tomorrow rob you from your faith for today.   “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble” (Matthew 6:34).  Worry is a form of fear.  When your mind is focused on the things that might happen, your faith begins to grow weak.  We must remember that every day is a new day to walk by faith.

When you received God’s forgiveness for your sins, God began to grow a seed of faith in you.  The seed of faith continues to grow as you nurture it by continuing to believe in God’s love for you as His child.  “For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, ‘Abba, Father’” (Romans 8:15).

Even though it is good to have others to pray for us, those prayers do not take the place of the prayer we should have with God.  God wants us to come to Him and tell him about our concerns.  We can “come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need” Hebrews 4: 16.  Have you taken time to pray today?
