2014 May Message from Oasis of Hope CCSG

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.  Therefore we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea…. Be still and know that I am God….” (Psalm 46: 1-2, 10).

At our meeting in May, we heard a story about a woman who was walking along the beach and broke her femur after a bone marrow transplant.  After surgery, the woman prayed, “Lord, I don’t need any more reminders that life is fragile.”

We were reminded that every day is special. We can find many things to be grateful for each day if we will focus on the positive things in our life.  Too many times, we get caught up in the negative details of our cancer journey and lose sight of all for which we can be thankful.

“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand and rejoice in hope of the glory of God” (Romans 5:1-2).  Rejoice in your suffering.  Suffering produces character and character produces hope.

The woman with the broken femur asked, “Will God heal me?”  Then she realized, “God has healed me enough for today.”   There is no need to worry about tomorrow.  None of us have a guarantee that we will see tomorrow. Remember to trust in God.  He will provide enough healing and strength for today.

Come join us for more words of encouragement at our next monthly meeting.  In June, the Oasis of Hope Christian Cancer Support Group will meet on the third Tuesday at 7:00 P.M.  We look forward to having you join us.
