Remember in the dark, what you have learned in the light.  Our speaker shared some things she has learned in the light that has helped her on her cancer journey.  “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want” (Psalm 23:1).  While you are going through the cancer journey, God will take care of you.  “…I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5).  Even if the cancer journey becomes long, God will never abandon you on your journey.

In the dark is when the truth of the light becomes real.  It is during the surgeries, treatments, medical tests, doctor visits, and medications that the truth of God’s word ministers to us.  It is during these times that we need more than ever the promises of God’s word to be real for us.

We who have walked the cancer journey for any length of time have come to realize that once you get cancer, life is never the same.  Many times we may long for the way life used to be, but we are wasting precious time.  Instead, we need to find the calm in our storm – Jesus.  We were encouraged to allow this time of testing to be a time when we become intimate with the Lord.  Allow this time of testing to be a time when you become still and allow God to speak to you.

The next time you think about the big “C” for cancer, instead think about the big “C” for CHRIST.  The journey may get rough, but in Christ alone, you will make it through this journey.

Join us for our monthly meetings to hear more words of encouragement.  Please note that next month we will have a Bar B Q on Saturday, August 16, at 3:00.  For more details on this event, please contact Darla at (619) 423-0661.  We look forward to having you join us.
